Getting back to it

Today I bundled Siri up for a lovely walk outside, since it’s still 40 degrees in January! After a few minutes, I felt “the itch” to run. Maybe you know it? The overwhelming urge to sretch the legs and raise your heartrate?

Normally, running a couple miles feels great but oh my goodness, this measly one mile jog was quite a workout. 6 weeks of “no exercise apart from walking” following my c-section has left me with zero muscle and zero stamina. It even think my diaphragm shrunk as I gasped for air.

So hats off to all moms who have rehab-ed back to their pre baby athletic self. I’m not talking simply being thin, because thin doesn’t equate strong. I mean the women who have have gained back their stamina and muscle in addition to shedding pounds. I applaud you and look to you as I attempt to do the same. It’s going to be a long road, and not just in miles.
