Being pregnant, I eat ALL the time. My newest habit is eating right before bedtime so I don’t wake up all hungry and crabby in the morning. Ben says “No comment” when asked to verify this.
But last night, my bedtime snack didn’t cut it. Not even close. At 3am I woke up feeling ravenous- and I mean that word in its entirely. I wasn’t just hungry, I felt like my stomach was sucking the life out of itself and taking me for prisoner. This is when I became the Very Hungry Caterpillar.
My late night- or I guess early morning?- snack started with two handfuls of goldfish crackers. And then a cheese stick. And then yogurt. It was all nothing against the onslaught of hunger. Then a glass of milk and nilla wafers- would this hunger never end? Only after all that, a bunch of grapes, AND a candy bar did I feel better. I looked at the microwave reading 3:10am and back to the piles of wrappers that I’d consumed in record time. Did I feel guilty? Not at all. I thought, “That Caterpillar has nothing on me!”
